Where were we? Ah yes, I was saying about how I'd emerged from my winter nest back into Blogland.
I was a little premature.
Sorry.
Actually, I've had a big stinky cold, which put me off my stride just as I was feeling perkier. *coughs weekly*
But this is not a picture of what I've been snotting into my hanky.
Oh no.
But I'm feeling better now and cheered up by these remarkable pictures of aurora borealis, visible 'in the north' the last few nights - but not here, proving that Merseyside is not as northern as some southerners think. These images were taken in Scandanavia and Alaska - for a 'Wow!' moment, try doing a search of 'aurura borealis' pics.
Go on.
So what makes aurora borealis? Not a clue... I start glazing over when it comes to star gazing. But Astro Bob will tell you if you pop over there.
I was just going to add seeing it to the old bucket list, but find it is already there! Doh!
And if you're reading this from the southern hemisphere, don't feel left out. This last pic is Aurora Australis - the Southern Lights - as seen from South Australia in 2001.

Well, I'm relieved that wasn't a hanky picture. I am tempted to jump in the car and drive north on the off chance - but that would be silly, wouldn't it? Especially as I will be driving north anyway next week - wouldn't that be a magnificent conclusion to the wedding I'll be attending?!
ReplyDeleteI think it's lovely, but I am already so miserably cold here in Seoul I have no desire to travel any further north, no matter how incredible the natural phenomena are. Maybe I would feel differently if the temperatures had gotten above zero (Celcius) anytime in the past week! Hope you're feeling better and fully recovered soon!

ReplyDeleteI've had a stinking cold too - and my cough (which happens more than once a week, unlike yours) certainly isn't weak - I've been concerned that it might dislodge my newly-repaired detached retina. Still, it's only a cold, eh?
ReplyDeleteTim - it crossed my mind to jump in the car and drive due north - but it was easier to set fire to the shed.
ReplyDeleteMsCaroline - I was talking about the winters of Korea with someone else the other day - they do sound particularly grim. Poor you!
Dave - Sounds like you've been having a rough time, Dave. I do hope you're on the mend. Colds go straight to my chest these days and nothing seems to help the cough - must be scary with the retina repair though!
p.s. Let's hope for some improvement on the coughing weekly/daily/hourly... perhaps today we'll just be coughing minutely.
